CATHEDRAL OF ST. LOUIS KING OF FRANCE CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
(Send information to post to berylquinton@cox.net.)
(Reported 4/10/05) Corey Brown reports that he has been on the Honor Roll at school for three quarters in a row. He is also on the Student Council and getting very close to God since he has been at Bishop McManus Academy.
(Reported December 2005) Corey and Devin Brown participated in a very ambitious school Christmas program. Corey played keyboard and assisted with the stage production.
(Reported 11/30/04) Corey and Devin Brown are at Bishop McManus Academy -- Corey in 9th Grade, and Devin in 5th. The church to which the school belongs is City Cathedral on Chef Menteur Highway. Corey tells me that he is playing trumpet and that devotions are regularly sung by the students.

THE CHOIR AT A "GUEST APPEARANCE" AT RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD CHURCH, JANUARY 29, 2004
JAZZ FEST 2004: Many of you know that the choir appeared at Jazz Fest 2003 and did a magnificent job! (See photos below). Yes, we did apply for the choir to perform again at the 2004 Jazz Fest; however, we were encouraged to apply again next year and informed that the Jazz Fest policy is not to bring any one school group back for two years in a row. This gives other schools an opportunity to apply and perform.
The children had a lot of fun performing on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at Lakeside Mall, at the invitation of the Federal Executive Board, in celebration of Public Service Recognition Week.
PATRICK'S FINAL UPDATE (as of May 7, 2004): HE'S BACK!!! Here are a few photos of Patrick which I took at school today. We are so grateful that God has returned this beautiful child to us. Thank you all for your prayers, which as you can see have been answered.

THIS IS PATRICK GUILLION (copy of school photo):
PATRICK'S
UPDATE (as of March 26, 2004: PRAISE GOD! Patrick has been
moved to Children's Hospital, where he is in Rehab. He said to tell
everybody, "I'm on my way..." He is very anxious to return to
school, and be that normal young man that we all know so well. I found him
in Speech Therapy this morning, and learned that he was scheduled for Music
Therapy at 2:00 p.m. He said to let everyone know that he is walking, and
he is. He was sporting a baseball cap when I saw him. What a miracle
God has given to Patrick and his family! I feel so privileged to be
witness to God's grace. The children in the choir pray every time we
assemble, "Lord, we love you. Thank you for all that we are and all
that we have." This week we will pray a prayer of thanksgiving,
because soon we will see Patrick's return. He is looking forward to April,
because he believes that he will be back then. He is being allowed to go
home over the weekend and return to Children's Hospital on Sunday night to
continue his rehabilitation and recovery. Thank you for all of your
prayers.
March 12, 2004: Patrick's mother Shelly reports that Patrick is making steady progress. Long range optimism is that he may soon be physically strong enough to transfer to Children's Hospital. What a fighting spirit Patrick has displayed, with God's help and your prayers!
(March 5, 2004: It was so exciting to visit Patrick today and find him awake and responsive. He is no longer heavily medicated. Though he is still in an isolation ward and still connected to a ventilator, the nurse to whom I spoke is very optimistic. She couldn't say he is no longer critical, but feels he is "not really" critical any more. He is steadily improving, and eager to get back to his normal life. Your prayers are working... keep praying, please.
February 13, 2004): Patrick is no longer connected to the heart-lung machine as of this past Monday, and now only the respirator is connected. He is still in critical condition, but his parents and his physician are encouraged by his body's adjustments and his latest x-rays. His ever-so-slight improvements are seen by everyone as one of God's miracles. Keep on praying. We know that "Someone up there" is surely listening and loving us all. Patrick's mother Shelly -- whose incredible faith in God is an inspiration for everyone who comes in contact with her -- thanks all of you for your blood donations in Patrick's name, your cards and messages, and your prayers.
(February 5 bulletin): Please pray for Patrick!!! One of our St. Louis Cathedral School 7th grade choir members, Patrick Guillion, is fighting for his life at a local hospital intensive care unit, following an injury. Please pray for his recovery. His parents report one glimmer of hope - that Patrick was able to squeeze their hands over the weekend. I will keep you updated as reports are received.

My very first event with the children was their 2001 Christmas pageant. Throughout
school years, the choir sings for school masses every other Friday morning at
9:00 a.m. My biggest challenge in the 2002-2003 school year was writing the script for the Christmas pageant presented on December
19, 2002 and (with a few musical adjustments) on December 18, 2003. The children make special appearances on request --
at Maison de Hospitaliere Nursing Home, and for the past two years on
the Riverboat Natchez
SLC School Choir, at Krispy Kreme's French Quarter
opening, on May 1, 2003 at the Kids' Tent of the New Orleans Jazz Fest, and in
December 2003 at Celebration in the Oaks.
